Issues with realmlist.wtf

Alright, I've been trying to play on private servers for the past..lets say 7 hours. So i downloaded the WoW Client and the TBC Client off the official website. All is good and dandy *After about 5 - 10 gigs of downloadage*. The private server people tell me not to run WoW after installing it, So i do not. After installing the patches needed for the specific server. I go to edit my realmlist.wtf file to the appropriate address. But i double click on it and it pops up Access Denied..So now im screwed over, can anyone help me with this?

Access denied? For what? They must of scammed you because that should never happen.
For what file did it say access denied?

Uhh..What do you mean they scammed me? Everything is free. When you try to open the realmlist.wtf file, i get access denied.

The file must be locked on your computer for some reason.
Are you on an administrator account?

you have to open it with notepad or word
