Ascending Ranks: How? (Knight, Marshal, etc.)

Not having as much experience with WoW as most people here, I wandered into Stormwind's old town, went to the area near the entrance to Sl:7 and the Officers Lounge. The female knight outside of the club is offering interesting items for those with the required ranks. How does one ascend the ladder of rankhood?

Does it make a difference if you're a GM? :p

Yes it does.

1- Private
2- Scout
3- Seargent
4- First Seargent
5- Seargent Magor
6- Knight
7- Knight-Lieutenant
8- Knight Captain
9- Knight Champion
10- Lieutenant Commander
11- Commander
12- Marshal
13- Field Marhsal
14- Grand Marshal

Heh, thanks, but I mean, how do you actually gain ranks? I know what the ranks are. (Except for things like "Outlaw," which I have no idea how you become either, yet you can buy equipment for such a rank from the same person who sells other rank-required content just outside of the officer club.

So how do you become a Private? (Or an Outlaw?) Then, how do you gain rank?

A better question is, how do you do it when you're always (And I do mean ALWAYS, as in, 100% of the time, not 99%.) the only player on the server?

they were taken out due to the whiny idiots who think the requirements were too harsh

... ... Eheheheh ... ... That's so viciously cruel. :-P Thanks for the info then. So are those supplies still purchasable? Were they removed? Or are only the requirements gone? What's in the Officers club these days?

... Oh, and do you think it's worth it to patch up to 2.012 if I'm *Happily and functionally* running on a 127.0.0.1 based MaNGOS server? Would that affect much in the way of me being able to play on my own? (Which I'm doing just to get familiar with the game.)
