Here is my guide on the new hero, Abaddon the Lord of Avernus. He is a pretty nice tank, farms well, and is damn near invincible! Also noted, he has the highest base damage in the game! Godlike for rushing heroes at level 3-5, this hero is one fun guy to play with. Well, here it is! Abaddon, the Lord of Avernus "Let terror reign!!!" Table of Contents I. Stats II. Skills III. Skill Build #1 IV. Very good at getting last hits when farming. His mana is almost very good for a Strength-based hero, perfect for spamming his Aphotic Shield. Armor is also pretty good, but his move-speed ain't perfect... II. Skills Aphotic Shield (T) Summons dark energies around an allied unit, creating a shield that absorbs a set amount of damage before expiring. When the shield is destroyed it will deal damage equal to the amount it absorbed to an area around it. Lasts 20 seconds. Level 1 - 100 damage. Level 2 - 150 damage. Level 3 - 200 damage. Level 4 - 250 damage. Mark of the Abyss (R) Marks a target unit, making all units that attack it gain an attack speed bonus. Lasts 20 seconds. Level 1 - 15% IAS. Level 2 - 30% IAS. Level 3 - 45% IAS. Level 4 - 60% IAS. Frostmourne Empowers the legendary sword with the ability to reduce the targets speed. Level 1 - 7% speed reduction. Level 2 - 14% speed reduction. Level 3 - 21% speed reduction. Level 4 - 28% speed reduction. Borrowed Time Whenever you take damage and your hitpoints drop below 400 you will no longer lose hitpoints. This ability will only go off once every minute max. Level 1 - Lasts 3 seconds. Level 2 - Lasts 4 seconds. Level 3 - Lasts 5 seconds. III. Skill Build Notes In the first skill build, I max Frostmourne first so that early game, you can chase a hero and attack him over and over again so he has lower health and has to reheal at the fountain. You can also harass even more at about Level 4 and try going for first blood by going behind, Mark of the Abyss'ing a hero from behind, and attacking him over and over again. As you can see, it's basically a harassing skill build. Mid game, at about Level 16, you can hunt heroes down to nothing and destroy them from behind. In the second skill build, I max Aphotic Shield first so you can farm more and stay in your lane much more. In the skill build, I also max Frostmourne so you can chase heroes down, explode your shield for instant 250 damage to the hero you are chasing, and possibly get a kill. Once at Level 16, you can chase heroes past towers, actually till your in their base! It's like N'aix - one hit and their most likely gone. Also, you can notice how that I don't max Mark of the Abyss until Level 25! I find it useless, as in late game, you will probably forget to activate it in the heat of battle and doesn't really help as it takes a second to cast, a second needed to kill! On the upside, by Level 22, you would have +20 stats! Much more health, attack speed, armor, and mana! I would prefer that over 60% IAS any day. I always go for the second skill build, as I prefer farming early game then hunting. If you are a good hunter with other heroes, you should try the first skill build. VI. Item Build #1 Note: This item build is for the first skill build. Level 1: Boots of Speed This is a must if your going for the first skill build, as you need this to get the first hit to slow the hero down. Level 5-6: Gloves of Haste, Power Treads If you farmed well enough, you should have enough for Power Treads. This is a must, to farm better and to slay heroes faster. Level 13: Mithril Hammer, Gauntlets of Ogre Strength The beginning items for your harassing item, the Cranium Basher. Because of your 60% IAS increase from Mark of the Abyss, you can stun sometimes, attacking them even more. Also increases damage by +30, slaying heroes even faster. Level 15: Cranium Basher Recipe Obvious. Level 19: Sacred Relic At Level 19, if you DID NOT farm good, you should have Sacred Relic, for your Radiance. If you did farm well and gotten a couple of kills, you should have Sacred Relic before Level 19. Radiance will allow you to farm even more proficiently, soloing creeps now. If you must, you can fight neutral creeps as they are a good source of money and experience. The 8% evasion is also not bad, can give you a slight boost in a battle. And gives a +60 damage, who can deny that? Level 20: Radiance Recipe Allows you to farm even more godlike, and you the +70 damage is really a boost to your hero slaying powers. Level 22: Broadsword and Blades of Attack The beginning items for your Crystalys, which will turn into your Buriza do-Kyanon. Gives you even more damage. Level 23: Crystalys Recipe, Buriza do-Kyanon Recipe. At this point, you should buy the Crystalys Recipe, turning your Broadsword and Blades of Attack, into a nice item. Gives you a 10% to critical, enhancing your hero slaying powers to a beyond godlike level. The Buriza recipe scroll is cheap, 750 gold, and allows you to just buy the Demon Edge and transforming your items into a Buriza, instead of buying the Demon Edge, going back to your fountain, etc. Level 24: Demon Edge Demon Edge + Crystalys + Buriza Recipe = Buriza do-Kyanon. Slaying heroes should be a habit for you now, as have an amazing 20% chance to deal 2.2x damage! You should hit about 500+'s at this point. Level 25+: Aegis of the Immortal, Divine Rapier Good combo, as the Aegis basically makes you become immortal, and the +250 (!) just slays heroes. At this point the game should be long over, if it continues, buy a chicken and form the following items in the chicken. Monkey King Bar (If nukers are present, e.g. Slayer, Lion) Black King Bar Sange & Yasha (+Attack Speed, movement speed, damage, everything) Divine Rapier (2nd one) (If your Aegis has one charge left, sell it and go for Aegis of the Immortal (2nd one) VII. Item Build #2 Note: This item build is for use with skill build #2. Level 1: Gauntlets of Ogre Strength, 2 Circlets of Nobility Just basically the starts for your 2 Bracers, plus the 190 health can be helpful. Allows you to stay in your lane for longer and will also improve your damage slightly. Level 8: Gloves of Haste, Boots of Speed, Power Treads Recipe Allows you to move faster AND attack faster. Just a necessary item. Level 10: Gauntlets of Ogre Strength, 2 Bracer Recipes, Belt of Giant Strength More health, more health, AND more health. The Belt of Giant Strength is the start for your Sange item. Level 13: Ogre Axe, Sange Recipe The start for your Sange & Yasha, plus it allows you to maim, which will slacken the haste of the hero allowing you to pummel it more and get the kill! Level 15: Blades of Alacrity, Boots of Elvenskin, Yasha Recipe Another item necessary for Sange & Yasha. Improves your movement and attack speed greatly, and basically improves you in all fields of combat! This is such a necessary item. Level 16: Sange & Yasha Recipe Self-explanatory. Level 18: Blades of Attack, Broadsword Necessary for the Crystalys, a very good item for him. Gives you a 10% to critical, enhancing your hero slaying powers to a beyond godlike level. Since you can slow the hero down, you can hit them more and hit more criticals. Level 21: Crystalys Recipe, Buriza do-Kyanon Recipe Self-explanatory, creates a Crystalys, and since your carrying around the Buriza recipe, all you need to do now is buy a Demon Edge. Level 23: Demon Edge Buriza. Level 25: Messerschmidt's Reaver Necessary for your Heart of Tarrasque. Also adds 25 damage, and approximately 500 bonus health! After this, complete: Heart of Tarrasque Aegis of the Immortal Divine Rapier Should be over by now...if not... Eye of Skadi Monkey King Bar VIII. Item Build Notes As you can see, each item build belongs to each skill build. In the first one, since you have Mark of the Abyss, your gonna go Basher and stun more often. You also get the Boots for harassing heroes easier. In the second one, your a farmer, so you rely on Strength early game to boost you up a bit. By Level 20, the second build's would give you at least 2,500 health, if not, keep trying! The second build's are about tanking, farming, and late game slaying. The first one, however, is a blitzkrieg on the hero and the principle of "Kill, or die trying". I always, ALWAYS, go second build, as I prefer farming over anything. IX. Farming from Level 1-6 In these levels, (remember, I strongly advise soloing a lane with him), if you are fighting 2 heroes in your lane, just stay back and TRY to get last hits. If you're just fighting 1 hero in your lane, be agressive and show that you are not scared of the hero. Harass his ass off, and if he DARES strike you back...back off and get a Ring of Health if your health falls below 1/2. X. Farming from Level 7-13 At this point, you shouldn't be completely obsessed with just farming. Once you complete your Sange & Yasha, just sneak up behind a hero and attack, attack, attack! Remember, if you activate Aphotic Shield when your Borrowing Time, you heal what you get hurt!!!! Start killing heroes, you should have at least 2 kills by level 13. In your lane, once you kill 2 tower (the starter one and the one closer to the base), go head to a different lane, where your enemy still has both their towers. Start pushing there and follow this strategy, hopping lanes and defending your base. Never let the opponent push a lane with 3 people and kill a tower! If you have another slower on your team, killing someone! At this point, also, your allies might be dying a bit, and to save their sorry asses, cast Aphotic Shield on them which will increase their chances of survival. XI. Farming from Level 14-20 Here is where the hero slaying begins. Finish up your Buriza and plain, **** up heroes that are farming. Also, if you are having trouble farming, or are getting constantly ganked, start farming neutral creeps. Wrap up the game, and strike fear into their hearts! After you finish your Heart of Tarrasque, try getting Roshan, and with the gold obtained go for your Aegis and then Rapier. Good game. XII. Endgame Notes 1. Don't try to take 2-3 stunners by yourself. 2. Don't go into their base by yourself. 3. Don't solo Roshan. 4. Don't let your friend die, when your right there with mana & range to cast Aphotic Shield on them. 5. Do not be afraid of dying when its one versus one and you have Borrowed Time. 6. DO NOT. I REPEAT, DO NOT LET YOUR ANCIENT DIE. Just some points to be pointed out during endgame. I did a 1 v 4 with Abaddon, still lost at the end but with a tower score of 10 - 11. Me 10. They 11. Clinkz...backdooring piece of **** XIII. Hero Slaying Not much to say here. To basically kill a hero middle game, go to about the river, sneak up behind (DO NOT GO AHEAD), cast Aphotic Shield, and, if learned, cast Mark of the Abyss on the hero. Immediately attack the Marked hero. If their is an enemy stunner present, back off once Borrowed Time hits. During Borrowed Time, immediately cast Aphotic Shield on yourself, and once it wears off, back off by running off to the sides and escaping. Obviously don't try taking 2 heroes on when their both higher level. XIV. Nemeses of Abaddon - 3 of his Nemeses Darkterror, the Faceless Void His Chronosphere makes your Borrowed Time ineffective! He has both a stun and a slow! You just cannot fight him, organize a gank if you have to take this hero down. Notice how your Borrowed Time lasts 5 seconds and his Chronosphere lasts 6 seconds. You'll get owned... Mogul Khan, the Axe Its simple. When your running away with Borrowed Time on, he'll just go ahead of you and use Berserker's Call, forcing you to attack him! And guess what. You know how Borrowed Time activates when your health goes below 400? His ultimate can kill you instantly when you have 625 or below. Balanar, the Night Stalker He can slow, move at lightning fast, silence you, AND make you miss 40% of the time! Of course...that's only at night! So at day hunt him down, at night be on your guard. XV. Prey of Abaddon - 3 heroes that feed Abaddon Zeus, the Lord of Olympia This piece of crap won't do anything. If he was smart, he would start spamming Static Field. One hit on him, and he's slowed down to death. Even if he does use spells, your ultimate would save you. Nortrom, the Silencer He basically can't do crap to you! I mean really. He might Global Silence you...but that won't really help him, now would it? Kel'Thuzad, the LichAnother one who can't do anything if you attack him. If he actually wastes his Chain Frost, your Borrowed Time will kick in. Remember, although Aphotic Shield holds 250 damage, it will basically block Chain Frost!!!! LIKE A SPELL SHIELD! Well, this has been a guide to the new hero. Have fun with him. This guide took me a day to write. Now, let's sleep.
