so i havent notice for a while that my wireless motorola surfboard hasnt got a password to prevent unwanted people to use my bandwidth.
Anyway how do i setup the psw for it? basically how i installed my modem was through device manager so that left out the password.

Password for modem? There isn't such a thing unless it's ISP provided. However there can be passwords for routers. And password doesn't stop other people from accessing your network and leeching your bandwidth.

You can either set up a WEP key, which is similar to password but easily crackable. Or set up a WPA key which is more secure, or enable Mac Filtering and allow only yourself to connect to the router.

    Start>Run>cmd.exe
    type "ipconfig"

Type the "Gateway" address into your browser and configure your router from that page.
